Applications
1. How do I apply for a job at SID?
You will be asked to log in with SingPass and complete an application form. Later on, you will need to provide relevant documents such as your resume and transcripts.
2. Who can apply for a position at SID?
You must be a Singapore citizen.
We welcome both fresh graduates and mid-career professionals from the private and public sectors.
We are unable to hold on to job offers for more than a year, so apply only if you are able to join us within a year of your application.
Please note that our recruitment process takes longer than what you may experience with other employers due to the classified nature of our work.
3. Can I apply if I am not residing in Singapore?
It is not advisable to apply if you are a Singapore citizen residing outside Singapore and do not intend to return in the near term, because some parts of our recruitment process are conducted in-person. While you can still apply if you are prepared to return to Singapore for the in-person sessions, it may serve you better to apply when you are back in Singapore for a more substantial period of time.
4. I am currently a student. Can I submit my application for any of the job listings?
You should apply only when you are in your final year of study and are able to join us within a year of your application.
5. Where can I find available positions?
They are available here.
6. Can I apply for more than one position at the same time?
Yes, you may apply for multiple positions in Section A of your application form.
7. Can I update my job application after I have submitted it?
You will have to submit a fresh application.
If you are submitting another application, please indicate that your latest application will replace the earlier one in the “Remarks” section of the application form.
8. If my application is unsuccessful, can I re-apply?
Yes, your new application will be considered without prejudice. You will not be penalised on the basis that your previous application was unsuccessful.
9. What if I change my mind and want to withdraw my application?
You can inform us via email at SIDrecruitment@mindef.gov.sg.
Recruitment process
10. When can I expect a response to my application?
Typically, candidates will hear from us within two weeks of your application, even if unsuccessful.
11. How long will the recruitment process take?
This is highly specific to each applicant but our recruitment process is generally longer than other civil service jobs because of the classified nature of our work. We need to administer rigorous tests for job fit assessments and conduct thorough security vetting.
Depending on individual circumstances, the entire recruitment process will take five months on average. We are unable to offer a clearer indication upfront due to the highly specific nature of each application.

12. What am I required to do for the security vetting process?
You will be required to provide personal information and attend interviews. Your responses at each stage should be accurate and truthful.
13. I have some questions related to the job vacancies/recruitment process. How can I get in touch?
There are several touchpoints in your recruitment process where you can raise your questions directly to our recruitment officers. If you have time-sensitive concerns or questions, you can email us at SIDrecruitment@mindef.gov.sg and we typically reply within seven working days.
14. Will I be informed if my job application is unsuccessful?
