1. How do I apply for a job at SID?

You will be asked to log in with SingPass and complete an application form. Later on, you will need to provide relevant documents such as your resume and transcripts.
2. Who can apply for a position at SID?
You must be a Singapore citizen.
We welcome both fresh graduates and mid-career professionals from the private and public sectors.
3. Can I apply if I am not residing in Singapore?
It is not advisable to apply if you are a Singapore citizen residing outside Singapore and do not intend to return in the near term, because some parts of our recruitment process are conducted in-person. While you can still apply if you are prepared to return to Singapore for the in-person sessions, it may serve you better to apply when you are back in Singapore for a more substantial period of time.
4. I am currently a student. Can I submit my application for any of the job listings?
You should apply no earlier than in your final year of study, to keep pace with our recruitment process timeline which is about five months on average.
5. Where can I find available positions?

6. Can I apply for more than one position at the same time?
Yes, you may apply for multiple positions in Section A of your application form.
7. Can I update my job application after I have submitted it?
You will have to submit a fresh application.
If you are submitting another application, please indicate that your latest application will replace the earlier one in the “Remarks” section of the application form.
8. If my application is unsuccessful, can I re-apply?
If you have acquired new skills or work experience since your last application, you are welcome to re-apply. Your new application will be assessed independently on its own merits.
9. Do you provide feedback if my application is unsuccessful?
All applications are assessed vigorously based on stringent criteria such as an applicant’s qualifications, relevant work experience and skills, and performance in tests and at interviews.
Due to the sensitive nature of our organisation, we cannot provide such feedback.
10. What if I change my mind and want to withdraw my application?

Recruitment process
11. When can I expect a response to my application?
Typically, candidates will hear from us within two weeks of your application, even if unsuccessful.
12. How long will the recruitment process take?
While it may differ according to each applicant’s individual circumstances, our recruitment process is generally longer than other civil service jobs due to the classified nature of our work. The process can take up to five months on average, and involves the administration of rigorous tests to assess job fit requirements and stringent security vetting.
13. What am I required to do for the security vetting process?
You will be required to provide personal information and attend interviews. Your responses at each stage should be accurate and truthful.
14. I have some questions related to the job vacancies/recruitment process. How can I get in touch?
There are several touchpoints in your recruitment process where you can raise your questions directly to our recruitment officers. If you have time-sensitive concerns or questions, you can email us at SIDrecruitment@mindef.gov.sg and we typically reply within seven working days.
15. Will I be informed if my job application is unsuccessful?
Yes, we will inform you via email.

16. How are starting salary packages determined in SID?
Your starting salary package will be based on:
- Your credentials, such as your work experience, skills, and qualifications
- The demands of the job, such as the type of work and its complexity
- Prevailing labour market conditions
17. How many days of leave are SID officers entitled to?
SID’s leave benefits follow civil service provisions. Officers new to the civil service are entitled to 18 days of vacation leave. This increases to 21 days after 10 years.
