I was driven by a desire to contribute meaningfully to safeguarding Singapore's national interests. My journey here has been transformative, equipping me with critical skill sets, fostering professional growth and building invaluable friendships. The tangible impact of our work is my primary motivator; witnessing the real-world outcomes of our efforts is deeply rewarding. Furthermore, the SID’s important mission, and the organisation's strong emphasis on professional development keeps me committed.

There were many reasons behind my decision to join SID, especially as a mid-career officer leaving somewhere stable and familiar. I have since found the work to be enjoyable and consistently challenging. There is no instant gratification to be found here, but a quietly satisfying process of working towards a common objective with your fellow teammates.

I've met wonderful people and learned so much from the diverse talent here. I'm especially glad to have made friends I can travel with; it turns out that having colleagues you can explore the world with is quite uncommon, and it speaks volumes about the close-knit community at SID. No matter what role you play at SID, the work is always meaningful because we are all contributing to the same goal: safeguarding Singapore. While some of the journey may present challenges and difficult moments, the knowledge that our collective efforts contribute to national security makes every obstacle worth overcoming.

In my 12 years with SID, I have had the opportunity to be rotated to serve in different teams covering various issues related to Singapore’s national interests. The one constant is the opportunity to work with team members who are talented and deeply committed to mission success. They inspire me to play my part for Singapore’s security.
