Joining SID is a considered process. Here’s what to expect and what we’ll need from you.

Eligibility & criteria

A group of candidates

SID officers are entrusted with sensitive information that is central to Singapore's security. Our selection process reflects the weight of that responsibility.

We assess applicants on skills, knowledge, professional attributes, and organisational suitability. Your personal information will be handled with the utmost confidentiality at every stage.

Minimum Requirement

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. The one requirement: you must be a Singapore citizen.

Assessments

All applicants will be required to complete a series of assessments to determine their suitability for the role(s) applied for.

Security Vetting

All applicants are required to undergo a comprehensive security vetting process. This includes completing a Security Information Questionnaire. Please ensure all responses are accurate and truthful at every stage.

Mental Wellness

As part of the process, you will be asked to complete a Mental Health Declaration so that we can assess your suitability for the role. Declaring past mental wellness concerns will not automatically disqualify you from working at SID. We take a supportive and inclusive approach towards officers with mental wellness histories.

Application process

Our recruitment process has several stages. Due to the classified nature of our work, the full process takes approximately five months from the date of application. We will be in touch within two weeks of receiving your application.

Step 1: Online Application (1-2 weeks)

Apply for your preferred position via this website. Make sure you have reviewed the role requirements carefully before submitting.

Step 2: Assessment and Shortlisting (1 month)

You will go through a series of assessments designed to evaluate your skills, analytical thinking, and suitability for the role.

Step 3: Interview (1 month)

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend 1-2 rounds of interviews. This is your opportunity to show us who you are, and to find out more about us. Come prepared and come curious. We welcome your questions too.

Step 4: Evaluation (3 months)

While we review your application, you will concurrently undergo an evaluation of security and psychological concerns. Both are standard requirements for all candidates.

Step 5: Official Offer

All applications will be evaluated holistically. If found suitable, you will receive an official offer. We look forward to welcoming you to SID.
